All power is lost, no power steering. Recently (within 6 months) had service done to Power Steering system. Heavy dark residue on top of Alternator, which is located under Power Steering Pump. Possibly from Power Steering system issues or repairs. 4 DTCs and 1 ABS DTCs, listed below. CEL/MIL illuminated and turned off with OBDII scanner. Vehicle key on and key off cycled three times with no CEL/MIL illuminated. Unfamiliar with the ABS DTC, replacing the MAF sensor to correct the other DTCs. Will list below and load Freeze Frame Data for DTC P0172.

DTC:
P0172-Rear Bank (B1) Fuel System Too Rich.
P0420-Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (B1).
P0404-EGR Control Circuit Range/Performance.
P0139-HO2S B1 S2 Slow Response

ABS DTC:
61-1-(Permanet)
Modulator-Control Unit Initial IG Low Voltage

Hi,

Have you checked fuel pressure to determine if there is an issue with the regulator? I do see the rich mixture, and the --30 on the trims, so the computer is trying to compensate by leaning the mixture. If you haven't, start there. See if pressure is too high due to a regulator issue, or when you turn the key off if pressure drops off really fast indicating an injector issue. Here is a link you may find helpful.

As far as the P420, that is usually the result of a faulty catalytic converter. Note it is bank one which is running the richest.

As far as the ABS, first, check fuse 18 in the under-hood fuse box. See pic 1 below.

In addition to checking the fuse, confirm there is power to and from it. Here is a link you may find helpful:

If the fuse is good and has power to and from it, next do the following:

1) Disconnect the ABS modulator-control unit 25P connector.

2) Measure the voltage between the ABS modulator-control unit 25P connector terminal No. 8 and body ground. (See pic 2 below)

3) If there is battery voltage at pin 8 (12v), Check for loose terminals in the ABS modulator-control unit 25P connector. If connections are OK, replace the ABS modulator-control unit.

4) If there is no power at pin 8, there is an open in the wire between the No. 18 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the ABS modulator-control unit.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
