More than likely this is a spark or fuel issue. So let's start with fuel because that is the easier one to confirm with an issue like this.

Basically I would just tape the gauge to the windshield and then drive it until it acts up. Then you can monitor what the fuel pressure does.
If the pressure remains steady then we most likely have a spark issue.
We could still have an issue with an air flow sensor or some other sensor but if we have no codes then we most likely have a base engine issue.
