It's added at these 2 locations because that's where the timing cover meets the cylinder head. You don't need to add a lot, just enough to cover that small location and then put the valve cover with its gasket installed on it already. There is a part number in the 2nd diagram, buts it's the RTV sealant in a black tube that's for high heat. And then there's the torque specs for the bolts and the torque pattern. If you have the spark plugs out, just don't over tighten them when re-installing them.
