Started car to warm up on cold day. After a few minutes, it stopped running and would not restart. Has fuel pressure to fuel rail. Distributor is turning providing weak spark to plugs. Injectors are getting power and cycling as you turn it over.
Baffled.

Have you checked the coil? It is internal in the distributor. Also, there is an igniter. We need to determine which is bad.

1) Remove the distributor cap and rotor to expose the coil and igniter.

2) While cranking the engine, use a test light to determine if there is power coming from the coil or a conductor to ground. (Note: Make sure you are insulated from the component to avoid being shocked.

3) If there is spark at the coil, replace the cap and rotor and it should run. If there is no spark at the coil, go to step 4.
4) Using a test light, check for power to the negative side of the coil while the engine is being turned over. If there is no power, replace the igniter.

Here is a good video which shows it being done:

Let me know if it helps.

How does the engine sounds when you are cranking it over? Can you take a quick video and upload it here so we can be on the same page?

The timing belt could be two are three teeth off.

Can we do a compression test to confirm?

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken
