My engine wont start up?

Hi,

We need to check and see if there is spark with this is happening. When the truck will not restart, pull a spark plug and reconnect the wire and hold the plug against the engine block to see if it sparks.

This sounds like a fuel pump has gone out. When you turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for 5 seconds?

I am suspecting that we have a coil issue that it opens the circuit when it gets hot. If you don't have spark, it is either the coil itself or something disabling the coil due to heat.

If you take a look at the attached documents, it will explain how this system works. If we can confirm that there is no spark then we know we are on the right path. Please pay particular attention to the statement where it says the distributor has a Hall Effect switch that controls the coil. These hall effect sensors and switches have a propensity to fail when they get hot. Normally this is found with crank sensors as they are hall effect as well but your truck does not have a crank sensor but it does have this switch.

Let me know if you have no spark and then we can test the coil. If the coil tests okay then you need to rebuild or replace the distributor. Check out the diagrams (Below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.
