Truck was running great, shut off and will not start. Getting spark to coil and spark plugs. Put gas and either and does not even begin to start. Starter working fine. Fuses checked and all good. Fuel pump seems to be kicking on and off like normal. Even with gas and either it still does not want to start. Like it is not getting spark but we tested it and spark plugs and coil have good spark. The only vehicle I have right now so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

Here is general information about what you are experiencing. Take a look through this link and see if there is anything that helps.

I have to be honest, if you have compression, fuel, spark, and the timing is correct, it has no choice but to run. The idea that it will not start with starting fluid indicates an ignition problem. (no spark or weak spark). When you check for spark, are you getting a hot blue snapping spark or is it white or orange? Often times, a weak spark will not burn the fuel.

If timing is good, spark is good, and fuel pressure is good, the only thing left is low compression. Have you checked it? Here are the specs required. Note that 100 psi is the minimum. Below that, chances are it will not run.

Minimum, 698 kPa (100 psi) @ 200 rpm.
The lowest cylinder reading should not be less than 80% of the highest. Perform compression test with engine at normal operating temperature, spark plugs removed and throttle wide open.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions. Again, since it will not start with starting fluid, I suspect it is ignition related or the less likely, compression.

Take care,
Joe
