Yes, I have replaced my struts, inner and outer tie rods, sway bar link, and lower control arms and ball joints both sides. And today I replaced my suspension knuckle assembly on my passenger side.I put brand new tires on it and also got it aligned.
Now I still have this weird popping noise coming from my passenger side of my car every time I hit a bump, and I cannot for the like of me find the problem. Does any one have any information that could possibly help me out?

Hello, I'm Danny.

Just a quick question first. Did you replace the strut as a complete unit or did you disassemble and just replace the cartridge? Thanks for using 2CarPros.

I replaced it all as one, referred to as a quick strut and the noise it makes is like when a strut or sway bar link is bad. But like I said I have replaced those as well every thing except for the rack and pinion. The CV axle is brand new. I didn't replace those yet or my sway bar bushings.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

There are several technical service bulletins regarding a popping sound. Here is the one that seems to fit best with your description. Now, a number of these things have already been replaced. However, there are different components which have been revised based on build dates. Take a look through this TSB and let us know if any of it helps.

The attached picture is a list of part numbers.

Suspension - Front End Pop/Click Noise On Bumps

SUSPENSION - FRONT END POP/CLICK NOISE ON BUMPS
TSB 10-8-5

CLICK/POP NOISE FROM FRONT END WHILE TURNING OR GOING OVER BUMPS

FORD:
2008-2010 Focus

This article supersedes TSB 09-18-2 to update the Service Procedure, Service Labor Time Standards and Part List.

ISSUE
Some 2008-2010 Focus vehicles may exhibit a click/pop type noise from the front end while turning and/or driving over bumps, or a creak/squeak noise from front when driving over bumps. The noise may be isolated to front stabilizer bar end links, front upper strut bearing area, and/or lower control arm.

ACTION
Follow the service procedure to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Install Chassis Ear J5P97202 in the Rotunda Technician Tool Program or equivalent to identify and isolate the source of the noise.

2. Drive the vehicle over moderate bumps and perform left and right turns.

A. If a click/pop noise is coming from front stabilizer bar end link(s), proceed to Step 3.

B. If a click/pop noise is from upper strut bearing area, go to Step 4.

C. If a creak/squeak type noise is coming from a lower control arm, go to Step 5.

3. Front stabilizer bar end link click/pop noise.

A. Is vehicle built on or before 1/11/2010?

(1)Yes - remove and install four (4) revised stabilizer bar end link nuts per Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-01; torque to 46 lb-ft (63 N.M).

(2)No - replace affected stabilizer bar end link(s) per WSM, Section 204-01; torque nuts to 46 lb-ft (63 N.M).

4. Upper strut bearing click/pop noise.

A. Is vehicle built on or between 10/01/2007 and 10/31/2007?

(1)Yes - replace upper strut bearing per WSM, Section 204-01; torque nuts to 30 lb-ft (40 N.M).

(2)No - proceed to Step 3b.

B. Is vehicle built on or before 11/30/2008?

(1)Yes - inspect the three (3) upper strut mount nuts for signs of looseness. Torque nuts to 30 lb-ft (40 N.M).

(2)No - replace suspect strut per WSM, Section 204-01; torque upper nuts to 30 lb-ft (40 N.M).

5. Lower control arm creak/squeak noise.

A. Replace the affected lower control arm per WSM, Section 204-01.

Welcome back:

Honestly, I wouldn't think so. Did you replace the sway bar bushings? I have actually seen the sway bar (not the link) crack under the bushing. See the two pictures I attached and let me know.

Take care,
Joe

A couple of weeks ago I took my vehicle to a place to have new tires put on the back only. After that, when I drove the car it started making a popping noise. When I turn the wheels, while driving, or while I am sitting still it pops. It also pulls to the left or right side really bad while driving and then other times it drives straight. I have already replaced the bars coming from the shocks going to the sway bar. I am at my witts end please help! Thanks for all the help.

Rock the steering back and forth with the engine of, have someone watch all steering components for any signs of wear or loose fitting components, if in doubt get a mechanic to check this for you, it will just take a few minutes.

Check for a failed front drive shaft, check for torn CV boots as this can be a sign of a failed CV causing no drive.

I have a 2002 ford focus ZTS ZETEC engine with 78,000 miles on it. Recently I have this weird popping/clicking noise that has developed. It sounds very similar to the noise you get after you turn off the car and your car is cooling down. I figured out that the noise is really only prominent when the car is in gear and at idle. I had the belts checked and Brakes Plus stills says that they are fine. The noise is really only prominent when the car is in gear and at idle. I found a video that seems to have the same noise. It isn't the clicking noise that is constant, it is the little pop or crack that the engine makes about every half second to a second. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci1c99n_Ldg

Check for a vacuum leak and clean throttle plate on both sides with choke cleaner. Have a local pro check for a bad cam/follower
