My transmission seems to shift in and out of gear or does not catch a gear. When I start the car it shifts fine, but after running maybe two minutes it acts up. If I shut off the engine for a minute, it shifts fine but again after a couple of minutes, it wont catch any gear (reverse, drive, 1, or 2).

Hey Tommy,

Is sounds like the front pump seal have gone out and the pump is sucking air, is is common when the transmission has gone out.

But if you have not serviced the transmission lately I would try that first.

Here is a guide on how to do that.

I amuse it is original with 220,000 on it? if so it have a good life, now it time for a rebuild.

Please let us know what you find so it will help others.

Best, Ken
