Transmission slipping?

I took truck to shop because it sounded like it was slipping when I pull away. Felt like it was skipping first gear going to second first. Made loud sound like a fan spinning fast. Had serpentine belt replaced. Power flushed radiator. Still seamed to not pull first gear. Took to transmission shop. They rebuilt complete transmission. Continues to do slip sound. It only does it when I set about 15 to 20 minutes. Running.

Good evening,

Can you upload a video of the sound it is making when it shifts? It does not sound like it was the transmission. If I were to guess I would say the fan clutch is looked uop can you check it? here are two guides to help us.

When I put my Sport Track in reverse it jerks and it slips when changing into overdrive it acts like its on neutral and finally shifts gears. I'm not sure how to check the fluid I guess its a sealed system and never needs fluid added.

Scan for codes and check fluid level he can check it. if fluid is dark brown or black it will probably need a service. These guides will help find out what it going on

The most common reason would be low transmission fluid. However Ford decided that us mere mortals can no longer use a dipstick to check the fluid level on some models. Instead you have to take it to a shop, they use a scan tool to check the fluid temperature and connect to a port on the bottom of the transmission to check the level.

Next reasons would depend on which transmission you have and which gears work or does not work and when it slips.
For those could you please tell me if you have a two or four wheel drive?
What size engine? (If you're unsure the size would be on the sticker on the radiator support under the hood).

And lastly here is how you check the fluid level which is probably the problem. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

I have a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport with 128000 on it. The transmission slips. It goes from 1st to 2nd then tries to go to 3rd but slips back into 1st and the rpms rev. If you stay in the gas it will then slam into 3rd at about 3200rpm and the OD light will start flashing if it is hard enough. I have become so complacent that i've been able to notice it coming and will let off of the gas right before it happens and slowly press on it again and it will shift correctly. It happens mostly when it's cold outside. When it's hot outside it does not do it nearly as often if any. I have added Lucas Transmission additive and it did not help. Can you shine some light. I'm not convinced the transmission is bad but that maybe it is electricle or a sensor. I still owe 6500 on it but with the economy I am stuck. I need to get it fixed so that it will last. The rest of the truck is in mint condition and runs perfect. Thanks for your time.

The working pressure and shifting pattern are all contrilled electronically. If the pressure regulator or one solenoid is defective it will throw everything off. You'll need to have the computer scanned to determine what tripped your check engine light. This should help pinpoint the problem. Hope this helps.

I had a new transmission installed about 40000 miles ago and its starting to slip between 3 and 4 when its cold. I'm not looking to replace the transmission again. I took it in and there were error messages in the system but not specific. Is replacing fluid and gaskets best bet?

Honestly, it wouldn't hurt to service the trans, but I doubt it will fix the problem. If I knew the codes you had in the computer. To me it sounds like the 3-4 shift solenoid, but I can't be sure without the code. Also, does it slip in any other gear? Also, is it slow to shift from park to drive?

First start put in reverse and it would take three seconds for it to go. I have never changed fluid or filter and I owned it three years now. I never checked fluid. Other than slip first start up it has been okay. Then leaving work last night giving it gas it switches gears first to second then I noticed the rpm going up more I pulled to side and tried taking off and it was slipping bad. I put in second still slipping, dropped it to first and it took off but it still slipping in first. I drive home in second it did not want to take off at stops it would finally go in first. At home next day I start it up and tried all gears it slipped in all gears even reverse. What do I need to do? If fluid is too low could that be the problem?

You first need to drop the pan and inspect oil condition and for contamination. There are magnets in the pan that will collect metal from the trans as it wears. Take a sample of the oil and the pan with the contamination to a work shop for first hand inspection, but from what you have described I feel that the transmission is near due for overhaul or replacement. Just changing oil and filter at this stage may not do any good, you cannot change the oil in the torque converter with out doing a major transmission flush which uses vast quantities of expensive oil. Get an opinion first before doing any remedial work.

Diagnostic code b2607 abs system. Transmission is slipping on pull out. No burnt smell or metal.

If trans is slipping and fluid was dark brown or black it needs a rebuild but have a trans guy make sure for a better opinion. The abs module sets this code with engine cranking and both blower motors on certain sport and sport trac vehicles. The cure is to replace the module if the light is on intermittently and or all the time. It cold be a bad ground as well however but a pro needs to check this

Guy said said everything looked great on transmission service. The e brake seems to be sticking but not working at all. It only happens on pullout. Recently had transmission serviced. Will Lucas stop slip hurt it at all to try? And abs code b2607, how do I fix that?

The first reply I said the cure is to replace the module unless the wiring is screwed up which a pro can easily detect and may fix it but I kind of doubt it. I've never had great success with the fix' em fluids and don't know many others other than it's a profit maker for the company. If it looked good in service then it may be the brake problem like a sticky caliper or the abs is keeping it on. Try the lucas if you like but like I've said I've never had good luck with any of them. You could have it rescanned to see if you get a trans code come up as it may be a valve body problem.
