The first thing I recommend is to have the can-bus scanned. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different control modules on the vehicle are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

The reason I'm suggesting this is because it can become a guessing game if we don't. That can get expensive.
Also, if the fluid is clean and full, there is a chance it is related to a pressure solenoid or other shift control solenoids or valves. Without scanning, it is unclear the cause.
