Engine seems to be not getting any power?

I have a toyota tercel that I just bought and it seems to be not getting any power and it burns through oil, gas, and sparkplugs. I need a broad range of answers so please help me it would make things a lot easier.

Start by doing an engine dry and wet compression check and comeback with the readings. This will tell me whether it needs a rebuilding and also a starting point.
