I had to install a plug to my boat trailer from scratch. The old plug was gone so I had to figure out where the wires went. I must have figured wrong. After plugging in the trailer wiring and starting the truck, the signals will flash 2-3 times and then burn the 10a fuse for signals and the 15a fuse for the stop lights. Replacing fuses does not help, same thing happens?

Where should I start looking for the problem?

Thank you. Great forum!

How many connections are on the trailer, what does the plug look like is it usually you will find a four connection setup, the bottom one, white wire one by itself with a male connection is the ground. The next on to that should be brown and that is for the tailigts, next to that a yellow wire, that goes to the left turn signal and brake, the green wire is for the right turn signal and brakes,

mark and disconnect the ones you hooked up. Install new fuses. Check each wire on the truck to see what it is for and mark them. Attach each corresponding wire to the plug. After all connected check each wire check the plug. Double check the wires. Have seen people change plugs and rewire them
