Help, I am having trouble with my brake lights. The fuse is OK (replaced with new)& replaced brake light switch ( as per local parts store).

The brake lights did work recently including trailer lights. Bulbs are good as I had to replace one because a tail light was not working.

I have no power at the at the brake lights.

Amy thoughts as my wife is getting upset with me and wants to go to a repair shop but unfortunately I am a disabled FF and to stubborn to let her go to a shop. I am not a mechanic but have been doing auto repairs and maintenance for over 40 years and just stuck for the moment.

I am hoping with your help I can avoid a trip to the local repair shop not because I do not want to support them but because I do not have the funds for such an expenditure at this time in my life.

Please HELP!

PS I did go to a website where you pay to get an answer and after explaining that I replaced the fuse, despite is being good, with a new fuse they responded and told me to replace the fuse & their final answer was to run a new wire from the brake light switch ( as I informed them that I replaced the switch) to the tail light, which is not a simple fix. AGAIN, PLEASE HELP, if you can.

Thank you in advance! JJ

Hi there,

First thing to do is prove the power flow through the switch with a test light, if you have power through the switch with the pedal pressed, check for power and earth at the plug into the rear combo light, start here.
