1996 geo prism lsi

My son just puchased a 96 geo prism lsi that had a engine replaced 30k ago. It does not appear to be the 1.6 or 1.8 that toyota originally installed, how can I find out was installed.

Send me the engine SN and I will try and find out. Don't be too hasty with saying it isn't a 1.6 or 1.8. Many replacement engines come from Japan or else where overseas. They may not look like the engine but they really are as the valve cover and intake will look different.
