Hello, this is the first time i write a question so i would like a little help, i drive a 2003 toyota corolla s version, i was invited to my friend kids birthday and the road was very bad, my car has a manual transmision and i was driving very slow, a couple of times my car whells slip on the road and i know that i used the clutch to manny times to go slower, all of the sudden smoke began to come out of the hood and i cheked that the clutch pump was very hot, i cheked the engine temperature and it

was ok, i left the car to cool down and then i drive the car without problems, the clutch feels fine and no more smoke came from the pump, but i am still worried something is wrong, so do you think i should take my car to the repair shop???

Hi there,

If you are slipping the clutch to slow down you will destroy the clutch lining very quickly indeed. If as you say it is driving ok, you are very lucky, but some bamage will have been done. If the clutch starts to shudder it is a sure sine that the clutch plate is slipping and a new clutch is not far away. So drive normally and you should not have any problems its just as easy to change down a gear or two as it is to slip the clutch and it does a lot less damage as well,
