The temperature is about 95 degrees with 70% humidity in Philadelphia. I had been driving for about 10 minutes with the AC on and proceeded to park. I sat in the car a few minutes only to realize right when I shut the car off that the temperature gauge was near the top. This only happens when I'm in traffic on really hot days. I heard some gurgling and bubbling under the hood and opened it to realize that some of the coolant was gurgling out of the "escape hose" connected to the overflow container. I tried to start the car and only got some clicking. An hour later I almost got it turned over, but sounded like a dead battery would when it almost has enough juice. Battery is 6 mo old and works perfectly. Alternator is find and I have a new distributor. I haven't tried again and am waiting for the weather (and engine) to cool. What could cause this inability to turn over the engine, would it be the over-heating or another problem?

Remove plugs and put a socket and ratchet on the balancer pulley bolt. Rotate engine clockwise, it should move freely, if not, the bearings may have been damaged in the overheating event.

While rotating, listen for any noises (grinding, scraping etc).
