Last friday, the belt on my toyota that runs the water pump, power steering, and the alternator broke while I was at a red light. I noticed it when the car started overheating and died. I replaced the belt but the car will not start. It will turn over but acts like its not getting spark but I checked the plugs and wires and im getting fire. I checked the distributor to make sure no condensation from the overheating collected in there, and there was none. It's getting fuel to the carburetor, and itried starting fluid but still nothing. I've had a couple of people tell me it may have jumped time or blown a gasket. Any ideas?

Try disconnecting a sparkplug wire or 2 ground it to the engine while a helper cranks it over-do you have spark

You've tried starting fluid and you got spark and nothing is happening-Verify your valve and ignition timing.

Put the engine no.1 piston on its compression stroke/TDC and look at the timing marks at the pulley and also the position of the rotor under the cap it should be pointing directly under the no.1 cap tower-Overall could be a a jumped timing due to the timing belt/chain.
