I have a 1993 toyota celica gt with a 2.2L engine. The other day my water pump started throwing water everywhere. I would have changed it but it calls for the timing belt to be removed and stuff. I put it in the shop and they replaced the whole timing kit and had to pull the cams to replace the seals because they were leaking. Now anytime u rapidly press on the gas pedal the car acts like it forgets what its suppose to do then says ohh yea. Vroom. But its like a slow rev. Its like its all been delayed. Could this be the timing is off or would that not matter? Pelase help if possible

Hi there,

If this fault only started after the pump and belt was changed I would be checking the valve timing. From memory there should be two lines the aligine at 3 & 9 O'clock on the cams' thia is with the engine at T.D.C. No1. This is on the inside of the gears also it is important the the pe loader on the inlet cam is set correctly. I will check a toyota engine manual tomorow and re post if there is anything else or the marks are in a different position. There is one other thing that can cause this and I came across it the other day, the Exhaust was blocked via a faulty Cat converter, just something else to think about.
