you bring the battery into a shop to check to see if its time to replace, they place the meter on it and its time for a new one, my quesition is though they are putting the click onto the battery cable with acid all on the inside and around the terminal, they clain its no good and it doesnt matter the meter can detact through it! is this TRUE?

Hi there,

It would make good seance to have clean test equipment and clean the terminals, but the load meter will have sharp teeth that make a good contact with the soft lead terminal post, so if they are testing properly i would believe them. Also if the battery is around 3 years old have a look at the electrolyte in the battery (don't touch it or get it on your clothes) if it looks cloudy it's a fair bet that the battery is due for replacement.
