1998 Toyota Avalon
My driver's side view mirror was broken recently. The metal strut that holds the mirror is intact, but the trim housing broke off into two pieces and the mirror itself shattered. Replacement at the dealer will run over $300 with installation, but I found another source for the parts for quite a bit less.
I have some mechanical ability, but mostly it is limited to basic carpentry, not automotive skills. Do you have any advice on how to replace the mirror?
Barring that, can I repair the mirror long enough to get by for a few weeks until I can afford the repair?
