A few weeks ago, my car started needing a jump to start. Then it would be fine for a few days.
finally I replaced the battery. Needed to jump it to start it.
the next day it was dead. I replaced the alternator. When I went to hook the battery back up, it sparked and popped the 120a alt fuse. I replaced the fuse. Tried it again with the same result.

the battery is not connected backwards, I had only originally removed the negative cable.

i removed the power to the starter and tried to hook up the battery. Same problem.

i can find no loose or broken cables. I also replaced the battery post connectors.

i hadn't noticed any other problems prior to the battery being dead.

any ideas? Thsnk you for your time.

Hello

You were not getting the sparks until you changed the alternator. Are you sure you hooked it up correctly?

I would disconnect the alternator - wrap the positive hot wire so it doesn't ground out. Then see if you get the same results when you hook the battery up.

Then if not, disconnect the battery and ensure you are hooking the alternator up correctly.

Again, it doesn't seem like there was a problem until the alternator change.
