Unfortunately the only major cause of tire wear is an alignment issues even if the steering wheel is straight. So I would suggest rotating the tires and getting an alignment. The other cause is suspension issues.
Also, any time you get new tires, you want to get an alignment because if you don't then you will be in a situation like this where you are wearing the new tires.
The good thing you have going for you is you are observant. Most people don't notice it until it is too late.
