At 71500 miles, Subaru told me that my head gaskets are beginning to leak.

What can you tell me about this problem, as I would like to know if it would be worth my while to address the regional office about a recall or some other sort of agreement to take care of this issue for me

There is no recall or technical service bulletin about faulty head gaskets for this vehicle nor does it appear to be a common issue. A head gasket rarely fails on its own, it is usually caused by an overheating issue with the engine. Has the engine overheated recently?
