2007 Subaru Forester parking lights won't go off

All of a sudden, today, when I shut off the engine, the parking lights stayed on. I have tried turning them on/off and also tested the keyless entry control. No matter what I do, they won't go off. As of now, the battery is disconnected - am 200 miles away from home and don't know what to do.

I haven't been driving the car much lately (have a 2nd car) and drove it 200 miles today after it had been sitting in my driveway for a while. Don't know if that matters.
