If the engine is turning over faster than normal, there is a chance the timing belt broke or has jumped time. That is a concern because this vehicle has what is known as an interference engine. Basically, there isn't enough room between the valves and pistons and they can hit and be damaged if timing jumps.
With that being said, I need you to perform a compression test. Here is a link that shows in general how one is done:

Start with that and let me know the results. If I misunderstood what you meant when you said it is cranking fast, let me know.
