Car started then after 30 seconds cut out. When attempting to restart all dashboard lights were illuminated and would not go off. Car turned fine but would not start and dashboard lights remained on. Left car and tried again but still would not fire up.

Hi,

Have you checked to see if there is spark and fuel to the engine? That is where I would recommend starting. Here are a few links to help you through the process. Take a look through them and let me know if you have other questions or need help.

When you turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for 5 seconds?

Hi Ken,

When I turn key to on position there's a hum for couple seconds then all the dash lights come on and it wont crank. I don't know if the hum is the fuel pump.

Hi,

It does sound like you are hearing the pump. However, that doesn't mean it's producing enough pressure to make the engine run. Have you had the opportunity to check for fuel pump pressure to the engine?

If you want, try this: See if the engine starts for a couple seconds using starting fluid. If it starts and then stalls, we know it is a fuel related issue. Give that a try and let us know what you find.

Take care,
Joe
