Hi My Micra automatic seems to be intermittently having somekind of electrical fault. A week ago my daughter locked the car from the inside using the door panel lock on front passenger side, the car then would not start, the lights on dash board were flashing when I tried to start the car, it took over 20 minutes with my friend trying to start the car with jump leads. It has been fine up until today when I parked the car it again would not start the dash light s and central locks clicked and flashed I rolled the car down the road and then restarted and then she was fine,

any suggestions would be helpful

This is a peculiar and intermittent problem which is not going to be easy to diagnose.

Symptom indicates it is possible the door lock switch which triggerred the security system and did not allow you to start. The key in ignition should have disabled the security system but seems it is not which could be due to a switch somewhere sending a signal that door had been forcibly opened etc.

So its really looking for a needle in a haystack so to speak, I just find it strange that the car has been running and starting fine for the last 5 days but today after driving to tescos parking for 15 minutes it happened.

Thank you for your suggestion

The number of components for the security system is not that many so not as bad as looking for a needle in a haystack but sometims if you get lucky, you might be able to trace the problem quickly.

Next time if problem occurs, try using the key to lock and unlock the passenger door if using the driver door fails to deactivate the security system.
