Starting issues

When the starter continues to turn the engine, does it eventually turn itself off or do you have to disconnect the battery?

Yes, that's exactly what it's doing. Also, the tachometer doeskin move. Everything else electrical is fine.

Is the engine starting while the starter continues to turn? If not, the system has a timed relay that will crank until the computer sees the RPM's increase and then turn the starter off. If the engine is starting with the starter still engaged, we have an issue with the switch not releasing.

I assumed that as well and bought another ignition/starter switch and still does the same. The car does not run at all. I had to drop the steering column to drill out the release pin as the keys were stolen and needed to change key-switch. All i did was unplug connectors and had battery disconnected the whole time. I put everything back the way it was and got that starter sticking. So i mentioned the tachometer doesen't move is that a fuse or relay that could be my issue?

The tachometer not moving indicates to me that the security system is engaged. When that happens, there is no power to the ignition system. It honestly sounds like it needs to be reprogrammed to work with the new parts. Was that done?
