Engine turns over but will not start, it is getting spark and gas. The previous owner broke the shifter lever and I pulled the cable loose from the column to be able to shift. It has not started since. Is there a switch on the column for a relay?

I am not exactly sure what you have done, but if there is spark and fuel, it should run. I suggest the following:

Check fuel pump pressure.

Next, check to make sure the spark is a hot blue snapping spark.

If spark is good and fuel pressure is within the manufacturer's specs, then you need to check if the fuel injectors are working.

Let me know what you find.
