Changed the starter. Jumped car, car started and ran for twenty five minutes. Got home, parked car. Went to start car back up. Nothing happened. Changed starter solenoid, accidentally placed wires opposite of what they came off. When turned key wires smoked but no fire. Switched the wires to original position and now car will not turn over.
Tried to jump the car and the jumper cables got hot.

Can you please help me figure out what is the issue?

Good afternoon.

The first thing that has to be done is to replace the burned wiring from the short circuit. Once that is done, then you need to check and see if you have power to the fuse box from the battery.

I would also have the battery charged as it was dead for a reason and you need to find out if the battery is bad or if it is a charging issue.

Can you post pictures of the damage?
