I have a old truck that the Pat's system has disabled the truck from starting. I have instrument cluster code B1681 and a B1352 code. And help would be appreciated.

Hi,

The B1352 isn't listed for this vehicle, but I know it is a Ford code specific to the Ignition key in circuit failure and focuses more on the door chime. So, I don't (at this point) feel that is causing a no-start condition.

On the other hand, the B1681 is specific to the PATS. This will prevent the engine from starting. The code can be caused by a loss of power to the transceiver, a loss of a ground path, or a faulty PATS transceiver.

I attached the diagnostics below for the B1681. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Take care and let me know if you have questions.

Joe

Okay, seems to be a problem on circuit 1216 voltage is 2.7v and resistance is OL.

Hi,

It sounds like a broken wire. The OL (open line) may be a bit difficult to find. Take sections of the wire and keep checking for resistance until you find continuity.

Let me know.

I'm doing continuing testing on sections on that circuit and will let you know the results. Thanks again! And I was wondering, this is an old truck with lots of miles. I've read there's a way to disable PAT'S through a binary file within the PCU under the Vehicle ID block. I have a Topdon Artidiag Pro scan tool with bi directional capabilities and online CPU coding and also have access to an IDS. So my question is, what file or wording would I be looking for and what parameters would need to be changed to disable the PAT'S so the PCU would simply ignore the PAT'S and allow the Vehicle to start?

Hi,

Thanks for the update. Let me know what you find. As far as the pats, for legal reasons, we can't provide that type of information. I hope you understand.
