Hello, My name is Ken,
I own the truck listed above it is a 1500, z71. Off road and tow packages back in October. I got an engine light I own a couple code readers the one I use and like the best is called FIXD the error code I got was P0301 cyclinder one misfire I took to Chevrolet dealer to fix but they say there are no problems. When they put there coder reader on I was like okay I know what I had so I figured they cleared it out and drove my truck roughly three hundred miles and no engine light came on. At the time I got it back ran good but every once in while specifically if let truck set in idle for about twenty to thirty minutes it would stall out in give same code cylinder one misfire but light goes back out. It does it several times in the past five months. Well last week I was driving it and stop at a buddy's when left truck was hard starting but started I drove it down the road about five miles it stalls and will barley run. When try to start it did start and ran long enough for me to get three codes. This time still the same cylinder one misfire but also code P025A fuel pump control and code P069E fuel pump control module request MIL illumination. I took tank down in out from under truck the sending unit was pretty rusted away one of the vacuum lines coming out of send unit was rusted in half so I bought new fuel pump in sending unit and it started right up after putting all back together. I drove it to town filled up with gas and truck seemed like ran better than did when bought it, but on way home the engine light came on and when pulled into driveway I shut it off in tried to start it it was kind of rough starting but started the engine, light still was on I left it along for the night. The next day I thought since I did not disconnect the battery that I will try in see what happens well it started and no lights on. I drove it since Thursday and put about one hundred to two hundred miles on it and seemed like had it fix until today. On my way home from work it kind of acted like was out of gas for a minute but did not stall it straighten itself out then engine light comes on. Luckily I had my FIXD still in place to read codes. I thought that this is good I will go home in check what it says. That did not get to happen. I had to stop at a red light truck idled light turned green and as I was pulling out it stalled and it tried to run when starting it but would only run at low rpm and kind of rough for about a minute. When hit gas it stalled, so I tried to start it a few times while waiting for buddy to bring car hauler and nothing changed. It tried to start at times and did start couple times but would stall after few seconds. I checked my FIXD and got the same except this time there was only two the P025A and P069E me and my buddy checked fuel pressure it is good and I am getting spark, but still will not run. It starts at times but barely and as soon as turn wheel or hit brake it stalls if it did not stall before I tried. I did get all the fields from the FIDX I wrote them down and two seemed off to me but that is where I get lost. The fuel-air command equiv. Ratio is 11381.96 and the MAF air flow rate is 0.0g/s these are what the FIXD screen shot that happened when set code. Truck still will not run. What can I do?

Update: I went out today and was messing with it and still no start I messed around a little more and changed the relays around and it started it ran for about five minutes until I shut it off when tried to restart it would not start again. Please help.

It sounds like the fuel pump control module located under the truck has a problem. It is not responding to the requests from the PCM to increase the fuel flow as needed. I would bet that if you remove it you will discover the "top" side is corroded and the housing seal has failed. Common problem with the GM's and Ford's that use this style system. Put a control module in a spot where dirt, water and salt can eat it. It is located "under" the spare tire, drop the spare and it will be held on with three bolts that will probably snap off when you go to remove them.

But, the new unit will need to be programmed to the vehicle or it will not operate. For that you need a dealer level tool that can do module programming.

Thank you and yes that was the problem. I took the fuel pump control module out and opened it up and like you said the seal failed and there is moisture inside the unit. I dried it out and hooked back up and truck runs better than has in long time. Though the factory put in bad place before I get a new one to put in I am going to fabricate something to keep the mud and water off the unit.
