Electrical problem
1999 Saturn SL2 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My saturn wont always start. What happens is it will run fine for a week or two then it wont start. After it sits for a while it starts and runs fine for another week or two then does it again. The Battery is brand new and both it and the charging system has been checked and everything is ok. It usually happens on short trips. There seems to be plenty of power it's just that the engine will not crank and it makes no noise.

Make sure your battery cables are clean and tight. There is a diagram of what the selector switch on the transmission look's like.If you look below the master cylinder mounted to the transmission you will see it.Alright when you have your no crank no start with your car in park take your test light ground it then probe the two big purple wire's that are right next to each other with the key in the start position you should have power to both of those wire's.If you do then you will have to wait till you have the crank no start and see if you have power to the little purple wire to the starter with the key in the start position. Then make sure you have power to the big red battery cable to the starter if you do then bad starter.Let me know what you find.
