My 200 saturn ls2 sat in our garage for a couple of months to save milage. When we went to drive it we had to replace the battery. Ever since, the speedometer has not worked. Anyone know what might be the problem? Also, had autozone read my ses light and said 02 sensors were bad. Car is shifting funny... could the 02 sensors really be the problem?

After the battery is replaced the computer will take a few drive cycles to relearn. this is normal and evident in shifting.

What are the specific codes for the O2?

Check the fuse for the speedo?

Good luck and let us know. :)

Suggested Repair

After the battery replacement, allow several drive cycles for the computer to relearn; odd shifting during that time can be normal. Check the speedometer fuse, and get the specific O2 sensor codes before replacing sensors.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 2000 Saturn LS2 said the speedometer stopped working after the car sat and the battery was replaced. An AutoZone scan indicated bad O2 sensors, and the transmission was shifting oddly. The expert said post-battery shifting changes are normal while the computer relearns over a few drive cycles, asked for the specific O2 codes, and suggested checking the speedometer fuse.
