I was driving and my car killed on me. It was jurking and taping it sounded like it wanted to kill but didn't. I added a quart of oil and ran it it ran for a bit then just killed. After it killed I let it sit for a while before trying to start it again and it just clicked. Would not start. If I turn the key and hold it it would start smoking.I believe it to be my started has going out but what would make it kill?

You Killed it !
You fried the engine no oil
knocking engine
I would say start looking for another engine
and you may also burnt the starter holding the key forcing the starter to try and turn the fried engine will only over heat the starter and burn the brushes in it

you need an engine and a starter
