Right front brake engages every so often (and stays engaged until it cools down) happened 7 times in 4 years. Numerous mechanics have replaced brake lines going to it and adjusted brakes, bled them etc, but it is still happening.

Hi,

Was it the rubber brake hose that was replaced at the brake caliper? Has anyone checked the caliper slides, and caliper piston to see if any of them are causing a drag? Also, was anything ever done at the brake pedal? For example, was the brake light switch replaced?

As far as the problem, does it require a certain amount of distance for it to happen or can it happen at any time? Is there anything you can think of that may make it more likely to happen?

Let me know as much as you can. What has been done to it, what has been checked, and so on? Since it is only one wheel it happens to, I have a feeling something is causing the caliper to hang up on that wheel, but it can be other things as well.

If possible, lift that wheel off the ground. Have a helper apply the brakes so you can't turn the wheel. Have the helper release the brakes. Are you able to immediately turn the wheel? Does it seem there is an excessive drag on the wheel making it hard to turn?

Let me know.

Joe
