I recently took the car to my mechanic and they could not fix the issue. They repeatedly were sent the wrong replacement. They said they needed to replace the whole assembly for $270.00. I found the Doorman cable at AutoZone for under $50.00. Took off the door panel today and discovered that the whole cable was missing so I was not sure how both ends were connected. Went back to AutoZone and one of there guys was able to attach one end the actual latch end went back home attached the handle end and put the door back together. It does not work I am thinking I have the wrong part or it is not attached correctly. Without seeing the original cable in place I am just not sure. The problem with the cable was at the handle end I thought when I first took the door panel off. The replacement part has a yellow knob on the latch end and it did go into the latch with a little effort, but I am wondering if it is seated right or even the right part. I would appreciate any help you can give.

There are two cables. One fits the front doors the other the rears. Dorman 924381 shows as the front cable. An easy way to tell if the latch end is installed is to hold the outer bracket on the front of the cable and pull the inner cable (green arrow). If it is connected it will pull and open the door then the spring on the latch will pull it back. If you pull and it springs back but the door does not open the latch/actuator itself is bad. Actually a very common problem on that car. Dorman even makes only that latch assembly.

The latch end simply slips through a slot on a lever and snaps into the bracket on the latch. The other end is basically the same where it connects to the handle.

Thank you Steve. You have confirmed that I have the right part and I understand the handle end. Is there any way you could send a picture of the latch end (what I am calling the one with the yellow knob), but actually shown already snapped into the bracket on the latch. This is what I am having trouble with. It would help greatly to see it correctly seated in the bracket in the latch. Sorry for the delay in my response. I know it is late now and I do not want to interrupt your evening. If you do not have time now I understand.

These should give you an idea. The cable end goes through the bracket and the cable ball end slips through a slot in the lever on the latch.
