I need to remove the cup holder and cannot determine how to do it.

I am attaching two pictures of the cup holders and they are not the type that expand when tray is opened.

Picture #1 shows the cup holders when tray is completely open.

Picture #2 is taken across the top of the tray and exhibits a plastic piece (A) that is attached to the bottom of the structure above the tray. There is also a plastic piece (B) at the back of the tray that contacts plastic piece (A) and prevents the tray from coming all the way out.

I have tried to figure out how to manipulate these plastic pieces to remove the tray to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Pop the holder out. Now go under the front lip of the face and remove the two screws that hold the face plate to the holder. Now push the sliding part into the dash until it drops free of the slides in the back. To reinstall you reverse the process, except a couple of dabs of silicone grease on the slides makes them rattle a bit less.

Steve,
The cup holder set-up must be different in my 2001 Venture LT. Removing the face plate does not allow the cup holder to slide any further backward than when the face plate is attached. When I look across the top of the cup holder as I pull the holder out, I can see a plastic piece at the back of the holder. It sticks up about a half-inch above the top of the holder and when you pull the holder forward, this plastic piece makes contact with another plastic piece attached to the underside of the metal housing above the holder. This prevents the holder from coming completely out. I cannot manipulate either piece to release the cup holder.
Thanks, Joe

HMM. That is GM info and I have removed them that way before on the Venture. The sides of the holder should have slots that line up with the glides in the dash support as it pushes into the bracket. Does the cup holder hit the console? May need to move it first.
