So, I just had my starter replaced because I thought it was my darn starter, $310.00 down the drain. For mechanic and the starter. My car still won’t turn on. Well, it doesn’t turn over. The lights on the car turn on. The mechanic scanned the car he says it’s the theft system. Problem is. My handle on the driver side is off. Can I go to a key programmer to fix this? Or do I have to go to my dodge dealer?

Do you have the key remote? If so, lock the car and let the car sit for a couple of hours. Then unlock the car using the remote, this should reset the security system. When you try to crank the engine over is the security light flashing? If so the system is still engaged, I would try a hard system reboot, which is done by removing the negative side of the battery, with the cable loose from the negative side of the battery, hold it to the positive terminal for 1 minute this will discharge the memory capacitors in the BCM and PCM allowing the system to reboot.

This guide may help as well:

The security light is flashing. The remote key is broken. It also asks for a personal identification code. Do I need to get that from the dealer?

Yes, you do, but I would try the hard reboot first to see if the can restart the system.

I would try the system reboot first if that doesn't work you will need to take it in for a program update.
