How can I tell if my car has rear ABS?

There is a terrible roaring coming from the rear driver's side wheel. I'm certain it's the bearing. I'm planning on replacing the whole hub assembly. But as I look to order it, everyone is asking whether or not it has rear ABS or not. I think it does, but how can I be for sure? It does have rear drum brakes, which I thought were extinct by 2006.

So how do I tell if there's ABS back there? Is there a disc brake model? If so, would the hub be different for that car?

TIA.

Hello,

Most of these vehicles with rear drum did not have rear ABS.
One easy way to check would be to look for the ABS sensor. The ABS sensor wire is fairly easy to find as it goes to the back of the hub.

You can also call any GM dealer and provide them with your VIN. They should be able to tell you if your vehicle is equipped with rear ABS.

I have attached the wheel bearing replacement procedure below. It shows the diagram of the ABS sensor wire. This could help you determine.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.

Oh, okay, so, there's not a wheel speed sensor on non-ABS cars. That makes sense. I also wondered just how good drum brakes would be with ABS, considering how slow to react they can be. Thanks much.
