Can I put a rear wheel hub assembly on the front?

Okay, my mechanic took off my front hub assembly and I saw that it had ridges on it like a rear hub assembly has. And that's why I'm asking you if you can I put a rear wheel hub assembly on the front?

They're totally different. The top one in this photo shows the front assembly. The red arrow is pointing to the splines used by the CV joint to drive that wheel. The lower is for the rear bearing assembly. The blue arrow is pointing to the toothed tone ring used by the wheel speed sensor on cars that have anti-lock brakes.
