My power windows seem to be closing on their own. It began with just the driver side and now the passenger window closes on its own as well.
There are no odd noises when this happens.
At times, the windows do not respond to the switch at all. I did the reset on the switches which only provides temporary help. I'm concerned at some point the window may either no go up at all or get locked in the up position and since this is a frameless window, which may prevent me from opening the door completely. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Looking through the wiring schematics, I feel we have one of two possibilities causing the issue. Either the switch at the driver's door is shorting internally or there is an issue with the driver's door control module.

The idea that both go up leads me to feel it's the driver's door switch, but the only way to confirm it isn't the module is to have the can-bus scanned to see if there are codes related to the module. If it is the switch, it won't set codes because the module doesn't realize a person isn't requesting the windows to go up.

Now, the can-bus system is this: CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all modules/computers are tied together via a few wires. With a basic scanner, you can't retrieve codes stored in this type of module. As a result, it needs to have the CAN scanned. Here is a video showing how it's done.

I have also attached the wiring schematics below for the power windows. Note that there is only one switch that has the ability to move both windows. Other than that switch shorting, the module has control of their operations.

I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if you have other questions or if there is something I can do to help.

Take care,

Joe
