1998 Pontiac Sunfire turn signal fuse

This should give you guys a challenge...
I have gone through 15 fuses idagnosing the problem, and still have no solutions, so here we go

sort and curly version, turn signals work only when vehicle in park, after dropping into gear, fuse pops killing signals and reverse lights, hazards work, cruise control works.

I have tried many different things to narrow the search, wiring is all OK (after 4 hrs tearing the car apart) all bulbs in working order and clean contacts, all grounding screws tight. Even when I tried placing the car in nuetral and then inserting a new fuse, it popped immediatly.

So you have checked the wiring harness near the shifter on the trans for any rubbing?If it is sitting in neautral with your foot off the brake, the only other thing that I can think of that connects gear position to lights is the Neutral safety Switch

Well, I tried the trouble shoot method, the car will not shut off when in drive or neutral, and the car will not start in gear or neutral, only when car in park will she start.

I looked at the wires in my steering column (I have tilt) but everything there is clean and there is still quite a bit of give on the length of the wiring harnesses.

Someone told be about a blinker or something above the brake pedal on the firewall under the dash but if my hazards work, then it would be functioning properly.

hmmmmm, not sure.

It should start in neutral as well as park. Try starting the car, putting it in whatever gear pops the fuses, unplug the neutral safety switch while it is running, it will set a code, but if it is the problem the fuse wont pop
