Break lights

I have a 2001 pontiac grand prix 150,000 miles I am having problems with lights. Before my head lights stayed on durring the day now they only turn on at night not so bad I guess, but now my brake lights dont work. The 3rd break light in the rear window lights up but the other 2 won't. I changed the all the bulbs with correct ones and checked the fuses but can't find anything wrong to keep them from working. I have back up lights turn signals, so what should I do?

From what I have seen in the past it is due to a bad turnsignal switch. The brake light curcuits run through the turnsignal switch for the left and right rear stop lamps. The high mount curcuit comes straight off the brake switch and that is why the highmount stop light is the only one that is working.
