My car has been having higher temperature readings that are just shy of the red temp overheat stage. I checked the coolant levels and the overflow tank is just under half full. There is also good oil pressure. But I noticed that the radiator fans were not functioning. Is this the cause of my temperature problems? I would guess it would be the relay or the fans themselves are drawing to much amps causing them to knock out the relays, but what do you think about my problem?

Hi:
Does the engine run hot when you are sitting still or driving or both?

It has been running warm during idling, which makes sense with the fan, but then when moving it is still hovering just shy of the overheating zone.

If it doesn't cool off when you drive at operating speed, it's not only the fans. I would start with a thermostat and cooling system flush. You may want to consider having the temp sending unit checked to make sure it's functioning properly. Once that is complete, see how things work. If the problem continues, we'll move along.

TEST: With the engine cold, remove the rad cap. Start the engine and allow it to heat-up. Watch the coolant in the radiator. When the engine hits normal operating temp (near195) the coolant should begin circulating freely.

Let me know what you find.
