I just bought the car listed above. It would take me, sometimes, a couple of hours and many many many tries and jiggling of the ignition with the key and turning the steering wheel back and forth just to get it started. Eventually it got to where the ignition wouldn't turn. So I ordered one and replaced it but I needed to program it and everything I was reading mentioned the security light and the dash being on until you turn the key and do different tricks and stuff and when it turns off the car should be good to go. There was no security light, occasionally whenever I would try and turn the key and all the lights turned on in the dash it would turn on but it would immediately turn off along with all the other lights.
But everything I read was talking about it flashing until the ignition was programmed and then it would turn off. I took it to a dealership (I don't have money for them to work on my car) and they said that they could do the programming, which is what I thought I needed done, for $140.00. So I thought okay if that's all I need it will be worth the money because I can't figure it out and I took it up there. Immediately they came back and said that it would be over $500.00 for them to fix it and that the ignition switch was out and a couple of fuses are blown. So I order a switch and another ignition just to be on the safe side. I hooked up the switch and charged the battery.... which the key has to be turned to the on position to install the ignition so all the lights in the dash and everything was working (including the security light!!!) even before I put the ignition in because as far as the switch was concerned it was turned on. I went to put the ignition inside the switch and immediately lost all power to the entire vehicle I mean absolutely everything and it was hooked up to jumper cables and another car this entire time.
So I took the ignition back out of the switch and a few days later I checked all the fuses and found one out, changed it in the passenger fuse box on the dash. Charged the battery again disconnected the battery installed the ignition into the switch hook the battery back up turn the key over and there's no security light flashing at me! By the way I'm no mechanic I am a female who watches a lot of YouTube videos on how to do what I need done because I don't know any mechanics. but what I gather is without the security light the ignition can't be programmed and without the ignition being programmed the car will not start.
