2003 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

as you go fast the car make a sound like a lawn mower what could be causing the car to sound this way

Start by checking fluid level in trans, then raise car, put on stands and push/pull wheel both horizontally and vertically, any movement would indicate a wheel bearing, tie rod etc.
