Maybe you didn't put in enough fuel. How many gallons did you put in?

Well, alot can go bad when you run out of fuel in these cars. One of the many is when you run it dry, you pull all of the "gunk" from the bottom of your gas tank into your system. This could cause issues with your fuel pump, fuel filter, or all the way out to the injection system. I'd take it to a reliable mechanic so they can problem shoot all the possibilities.
