Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 128 k miles

I used a Actron Auto scanner on my daughters car and we received 4 codes
P1546
P0122
P1122
P1189

I do not have the proper CD to tell me what parts I need to get to fix her car. The car will not start. We just replaced the fuel pump and fuel is getting to the top of the engine but it will not turn over. Can you tell me what parts I would need for these codes.

Hi Lisa,

Here are the Code Defs.

P0122 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low Input - Could be the result of the TPS below.

P1122 Throttle Position (TPS) Sensor Inconsistent With MAF Sensor Low Voltage - Would replace this one. Then see if starts. And I take when you said it won't turn over you mean that it turns over just won't start.

P1189 Fuel Control (Bank 2 Sensor 1) - This is possibly a bad O2 Sensor. But could be caused by the TPS above.

P1546 Air Conditioning (A/C) Clutch Relay Control Circuit - Wouldn't worry to much with this one right now.

OBX just stole my thunder LOL.
I'll second the relacement on the TPS.

P1189 may be related to the engine oil pressure switch circuit for the grand am.

So we replaced the TPS sensor and it almost turns over but still will not start. What would you suggust now? Thanks

Just to clarify:

It turns over or it does not turn over?
Does not:

Does crank but does not start:

In doing some research on the code P1189. It is possible that it is the Oil Pressure Switch or even the Oil Pump gone bad.

Would need to have oil pressure checked. Or could replace switch and see if that fixes the No Start.
