I let this car sit for a while with a discharged battery. Once I charged then battery, I am now unable to turn the key and start the car. I hold the brake pedal down and the front wheels are almost straight ahead when I try to start it.

I tried to disconnect the battery for a few seconds and then reconnect it, which did not help.

Does the security ststem lock prevent me from turning the key, and if so, how to I free the key movement?

Make sure your key is in turned the right way. I always thought that an ignition key would work both ways, but my 95 grand am had the same problem.
